- To start the installation from DVD/CD set the BIOS to boot from CDROM
- Press Enter to Start Installation in GUI mode (or) Type linux text to start installation in text mode
- To do a media check select ok and press Enter (or) To Skip it select skip and press Enter.
- Select Language : English (default)
- SelectKetboard : US English
- Select Any One of Available Pattation Creation Method.
Custom LayoutTo Create Partitions.
/boot = 100MB
/ = 2 000MB
/usr = 4000MB
/var = 1000MB
/home = 1000MB
SWAP = 2 X RAM
To check RAM sizeuse Ctrl-Alt-F2and use the free command
# free
To Get Back to the GUIinterface use Ctrl-Alt-F6
*Similarly for other partitions
- Select The GRUB boot loader will be installed on /dev/sda
- Provide automatically (or) Manually Network Information
- Choose and Select region Time Zone
- Provide the Root Password
- Note: Lab purpose please provide Root Password asredhat (Case sensitive)
- Select Application Installation Method : Customize later (or) Customize now
- Click on Next to Continue the installation.
- Click on Reboot
After Installation
- Select Yes, I Agree ot the License Agreement and Click on Forword
- Disable the Firewall. Click on Forward on confirmation Click on Yes.
- Disable the SELinux. Click on Forward on confirmation Click on Yes
- Kdump (Un- Check The Box) and Click on Forword
- Set Date and Time and Click on Forword
- Select Yes (or) No for Software Updates and Click on Forword
- Create the User (or) Click Forword and Continue to Aviod Creating the User
- Check the Sound Card Settings and Click Forword
- Provide Additional CDs for Additional Software Installations
- Click on Finish and Click on ok
Login into the System:
Usernae :root
Passord : redhat
